Procedure for private patients

The main work in allergy diagnostics is taking the medical history. Only by accurately recording the symptoms and all accompanying circumstances is it possible to identify the causes of allergic diseases and plan further tests and therapies for the patient.
Prim. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Fritz Horak (Medical management)

Important

Arrange an appointment

Please make your appointment online or by phone. Normally, please select "Allergy test and follow-up examination" as the appointment type. And please keep your appointment on time (if you are 15 minutes late, a new appointment may have to be made if all the doctors present are busy with patients who are on time and there is simply no free time left). Unfortunately, we cannot process appointment requests via email.

We offer a range of allergy tests, which are usually paid for by the statutory social insurance providers (ÖGK, SVS, BVAEB,...). However, we are also happy to treat you as a private patient.

The private fee (doctor's consultation including tests and laboratory) is approximately EUR 600-800, depending on the scope of the examination. When submitting the form to your private health insurance, please note that the Allergiezentrum Wien West is an outpatient clinic and not a private doctor. The Allergiezentrum Wien West is a contractual partner of the Austrian social insurance providers (ÖGK, SVS, BAVAEB, ...) and is not a private doctor's office. If you submit the costs for agreed private appointments directly to the private insurance company, you may only be reimbursed 80% of the costs, depending on the tariff. If you submit the costs to the statutory social insurance company, the costs may not be reimbursed at all, as this is a private decision / private service. This means that you should expect a 20% deductible. You can then also use this confirmation for the declaration of employee tax assessment to the responsible tax office.
1
Preparations for the examinations

When you make your appointment, you will also receive information about how to prepare for the examination. This can be done either online (before and after you have booked an appointment) or verbally over the phone by our staff. Please strictly adhere to the instructions for your appointment. If you do not prepare and implement the points mentioned correctly, there is a possibility that the test cannot be carried out on the day of the examination and will still have to be charged. And please stop taking allergy medication (antihistamine tablets, drops, syrups) 3 days before the examination if your health allows it.

2
e-card & doctor's referral
Please bring your e-card with you to the appointment. For purely private services, no referral form is required.
3
Registration desk

On the day of your appointment, our administrative assistants at the registration desk will first record or update your personal data (e.g. address, cell phone number, email address). You will also need to specify, among other things, who should receive the results and how (you as a patient and by post or online for download, or the referring doctor?). You will then need to sign the data protection consent form and show the referral slip if necessary. To save waiting times, we recommend that you download the consent form from our website before your appointment and bring it with you filled out.

4
Doctor's consultation

You will then be called by your attending physician (please note the screens in the waiting rooms), who will conduct an initial medical consultation with you to clarify your symptoms.

5
Medical examinations

The examinations discussed will then be carried out. After the consultation with the doctor, you will usually have to go to our practice assistants in Room 10 for the tests and blood samples.

6
Doctor's consultation

At the end, there will be a final consultation with the doctor. The first test results (excluding blood tests) will be communicated to you immediately and a treatment plan will be drawn up.

7
Medical report

The final report (after all tests have been completed and with the results of any blood tests carried out) will be sent to you by post or made available for download online via our report portal. The report usually takes 3-4 weeks to prepare.

8
Therapy

We offer a wide range of treatment options. There is medicinal, symptomatic therapy (usually with antihistamines or local steroids), allergen avoidance (correct vacation planning, protective measures such as pollen filters, pollen screens, etc.) and specific immunotherapy. The comprehensive range is rounded off by acupuncture according to TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) and nutritional advice.
